After many brief teases, previews, and clues, we finally have something meaty to chew on when it comes to HBO Max’s upcoming series adaptation of the beloved game franchise. The last of us. Video game adaptations can play out in different ways, so fans of The last of us can sleep a little easier tonight knowing the show trailer is amazing. (That is, if the footage of the show’s zombies doesn’t drive them away.) The last of us the teaser even includes nods to DLC goodies from Games. What more could one ask for?
“Save who you can save.” The description for The last of us‘ notes the trailer ominously. And the show’s logline reminds us even more of what the heart of the show is. He shares :
The story of Last of Us takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to rescue 14-year-old Ellie from an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts out as a small job quickly becomes a brutal and harrowing journey as they both must cross the United States and depend on each other for survival.
“Brutal and heartbreaking” is definitely the vibe of this trailer. Although we’ve only seen a glimpse of their action together, we already feel totally sold on the relationship between Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie. We just know this one is going to rip our hearts out and stomp on them.
We’re also more than ready to meet Melanie Lynskey’s character. Chances are she won’t play yellow jackets‘Shauna here, but given the context, whoever her character is might not be that far off either. An exit for The last of us‘ The trailer does not yet reveal who plays Lynskey. So we’re going to stay in suspense for a bit longer.
All in all, though, we’ve had plenty of take on zombie stories over the past few years. But HBO Max The last of us always fascinates us. So many kudos to the series for that. We can’t wait to hear more about the show’s release. For now, everything The last of us‘ reveals to us that we can expect it in 2023.
