“The Walking Dead” will end with an extended two-year eleventh season that will span 24 episodes, ending the long-running AMC series in 2022.
The first part of the final season ends this Sunday evening, and AMC announced today that the series will return for Part 2 of the final season on February 20, 2022.
Eight new episodes will be part of this second chapter.
New episodes will be available a week earlier on AMC +, starting Sunday February 13. The final eight episodes of Season 11’s massive 24-episode arc will air later in 2022.
In February, The walking dead returns with many of our heroes fighting impending hellfire under Reaper’s attack; while others fight the torrential wrath of Mother Nature in Alexandria. For all of them, their world literally crumbles around them. Meanwhile, life in the Commonwealth is not as idyllic as it seems. For some, hope will be renewed. Others will be pushed beyond the point of no return. One truth holds firm: lives are at stake with every decision that drastically changes their future, their chances of survival, and the state of every community.
In the Season 11 Part 1 finale, titled “For Blood,” written by Erik Mountain and directed by Sharat Raju, the Reapers defend Meridian against an incoming herd. Pope suspects Maggie is behind the attack, while Daryl walks cautiously. Meanwhile, the Alexandrians scramble to protect themselves when a severe storm leaves them vulnerable to walkers.
