Thanks to the likes of Kingdom, Aliveand we are all dead, Netflix has picked up some of the best zombie horror of recent years in South Korea. But is Joy, the 2021 zombie series available to stream on Netflix? Yes, but you will only find the series streaming in a handful of countries around the world as of April 2022.
Joy is a South Korean zombie horror series written by Han Sang Woon and directed by Ahn Gil Ho. Sang Woon is the screenwriter behind the Korean adaptation of The good wifeand director Ahn Gil Ho previously worked on OBSERVER, Memories of the Alhambraand Foreign.
The series is about special agent Yoon Sae Bom who is given the opportunity to move into an apartment complex set aside for use by officials, but to get an incredibly desirable apartment, she pretends to marry her high school friend. Jung Yi Hyun.
Her “husband” is a detective currently investigating the area for a mysterious illness. Together, the pair find themselves trapped in the apartment complex when disease turns the living into flesh-eating zombies.
Can I stream the South Korean series Joy on Netflix?
The good news is that you can stream Joy on Netflix, the bad news is that there are only a limited number of countries currently streaming the series.
At least eight countries currently broadcast Joy on Netflix, with most regions receiving the show on April 12, 2022. It should be noted that the show does not carry the Netflix Original branding.

Will be Joy coming to Netflix US?
Although there is no confirmation that Joy is coming to Netflix US, and we don’t know why the series hasn’t been picked up by Netflix as an original. We’ll let you know if we hear that Netflix in other regions picks up the show.
The series is produced by Studio Dragon and distributed by tvN whose Netflix has a lucrative first-look deal and a 4.99% stake in the production company.
